Electrical Engineer Planner

Reporting to the Planning & Shutdown Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing E&I support services to the operating departments by planning and coordinating the activities of E&I tradesmen to ensure; safety, effective equipment repair, reliability and functionality in order to support uptime and the achievement of productivity targets in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines. The successful candidate will also respond to technical issues raised by tradespersons to achieve; quality, environmental and production levels.  The incumbent will effectively plan and execute short and major maintenance shut downs in an effort to maximize E&I equipment availability and achieve production goals.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop plans and schedules of periodic preventative/predictive maintenance for E&I equipments.
  • Procure all materials, tools, external services and contractors for E&I Department.
  • Prepare timely investigation, analysis of breakdowns and accidents to eliminate and avoid recurrence.
  • Assist in planning, monitoring and controlling the department’s annual budget for time and cost.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or willing to obtain.

Role Overview

AV Group NB Inc. is looking for experienced and entry level engineers of various backgrounds; chemical, forestry, electrical, mechanical, process, pulp/paper or other related fields. The successful candidate will play a key role within their team on various projects relating to optimization, maintenance, cost-reduction and workplace safety initiatives. The successful candidate will assist in driving initiatives that will promote a positive high performance culture and gain valuable experience in their related field. This fast-paced environment will be both challenging and rewarding.

Possible Duties may include:

  • Analyze potential problems and suggest corrective actions
  • Document control support and improvement
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and executing engineering projects
  • Lead and/or assist various improvement projects
  • Participate in problem resolution meetings
  • Supports production to resolve any manufacturing issues

Qualifications

  • Must possess degree in Engineering field
  • 2nd class Power Engineer tickets or higher considered an asset
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Practical experience in manufacturing sector considered an asset
  • Is an energetic, enthusiastic, and team oriented individual
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make decisions when under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Flexible and ability to prioritize tasks

Role Overview:

The successful candidates will be responsible to analyze, optimize and improve mill processes to achieve safety, environmental, quality, production and cost objectives in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines and applicable legislation.

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or willing to obtain.
  • Previous experience in a pulp mill would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and leadership skills are essential. (verbal/written).
  • Experience in leading complex projects that require strong leadership, initiative, and change management would be an asset.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.

1st Class Stationary Engineer

We are currently recruiting for the position of 1st Class Stationary Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance activities in the Steam and Recovery area to achieve maximum production while meeting health and safety, environment, cost and quality objectives in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that steam, power, water, air, cooking acid and other services are available to the various operating departments of the mill.
  • Ensure maximum performance of the Steam and Recovery through effective use of systems, procedures and resources.
  • Assist manager with department budget and explain variances with appropriate corrective action taken as required.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in the department.
  • Ensure accident/incident investigations and follow -ups are performed.
  • Coordinate major maintenance activities in conjunction with the Mechanical Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • 1st class Power Engineer license.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Previous pulp and paper experience considered an asset.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
